  • Normal: 18.5–24.9
  • Overweight: 25–29.9
  • Obese: 30 and above
  • Waist circumference — excess fat around the abdomen carries higher health risks

Limitation of BMI: It does not distinguish between muscle and fat. A muscular athlete may have a high BMI but low body fat.
